FACTS OF THE CASE:
AAAS is pleased to announce the reversal of the decision by the U.S. Interests Section in Havana to deny Cuban otolaryngologist Dr. Ulises Rodriguez Morales a U.S. entry visa. Dr. Rodriguez, who was initially denied an entry visa in May, was re-interviewed by the Interests Section and has been allowed to travel to Sylmar, California, where he is currently attending a three-week surgical training workshop on ear implantations by the Howe Ear Institute. The workshop was postponed to accommodate Dr. Rodriguez's delayed attendance. He is also scheduled to participate in a three-month seminar at the Cochlear Implant Center at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.
The reversal by the U.S. Interests Section is the direct result of inquiries made by interested individuals on behalf of Dr. Rodriguez.
No further action is requested at this time.
