FACTS OF THE CASE:
AAAS is pleased to announce the release of medical doctors Nery Fermin Medina Quispe and Fortunato Graciano Sumina Taco on 7 December 1996 by presidential pardon. Both prisoners of conscience were arrested in September 1922. They were sentenced to 22 years in prison by the Supreme Court despite the fact that the only evidence presented in court was the testimony of the two repentant guerrillas obtained under duress and recanted in court. No further action is requested.
