Using
the Directory with the This Directory is designed to compliment the AAAS Human Rights Action Network (AAASHRAN) archive. The archive is accessible on the Program's Website at http://shr.aaas.org/aaashran. Many of the cases in thisa Directory have been the subject of alerts previously issued by the Program, but for which additional information was received between August 1997 and December 1998. Some of the cases are new, having been brought to the Program's attention for the first time during the period covered. Information received prior to July 1998 has subsequently been updated for this publication. This Directory summarizes the Program's cases including the latest information. The archive contains detailed alerts on each case and past alerts that have been issued on behalf of the individual or issue in question. To obtain additional information about the cases listed in this Directory please visit the Program’s AAASHRAN site. The sites' Webpage, represented below, provides links to recently issued alerts, releases, issues linking science and human rights, the AAASHRAN archive, and information on how to subscribe to the network. To obtain additional information on any of the cases in this Directory, one may simply access the Program's AAASHRAN Website at http://aaas.shr.org/aaashran, and search for the case of interest by either browsing the archive in one of the various formats, or conducting a keyword search, and double clicking on the case in question. To facilitate letter writing on behalf of persecuted scientists each alert in the AAASHRAN archive contains relevant letter writing information, including the addresses of government officials in the offending country or U.S. Embassy representatives to whom letters of appeal or inquiry should be written. Each alert in the AAASHRAN archive begins with a summary of the information contained in the alert and is followed by the full text of the alert. |
