| Description: | The Protocol amends the International Convention on the Establishment of an International Fund for Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage of 1971 by providing for improved scope and enhance compensation; to arrange for the amended Convention to coexist with and be supplementary to the original Convention for a transitory period; and to continue for the economic consequences of pollution damage to be shared by the shipping industry and by the oil cargo interests. |
