Description:International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) is a nonprofit, worldwide scientific research foundation seeking to improve the well-being of the general public through the pursuit of sound and balanced science. Its goal is to further the understanding of scientific issues relating to nutrition, food safety, toxicology, risk assessment, and the environment. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., ILSI accomplishes this work through its worldwide network of branches, the institutes of its Research Foundation, and its Atlanta-based Center for Health Promotion. ILSI is able to identify and address public health and safety issues at the local, regional, and global levels through its branches; contribute to the underlying scientific basis for various issues through the programs of the Research Foundation; and apply the results of its scientific research to pressing public health issues through the work of the Center for Health Promotion.
