Institute for a Sustainable Environment (ISE) - University of Oregon

Author:Institute for a Sustainable Environment
Description:The University of Oregon established the Institute for a Sustainable Environment in 1994 to address the issue of the long-term sustainability of the Earth's major environmental systems. The mission of the Institute for a Sustainable Environment is to foster research and education on environmental issues at the University of Oregon. The ISE's programs encompass environmental themes in the natural sciences, the social sciences, policy studies, humanities, and the professional fields. Because environmental problems are seldom adequately addressed by a single discipline, the ISE is particularly concerned with encouraging cross-disciplinary environmental research, education, and public service.
