Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, Final Act

Description:The Convetnion calls upon member States to "develop an action plan or, where appropriate, a regional or subregional action plan ... and subsequently implement [the plan] ... to identify, characterize and address the release of the chemicals listed" by the Convention. Member States must also "promote the application of available, feasible and practical measures that can expeditiously achieve a realistic and meaningful level of release reduction or source elimination" of persistant organic pollutants through the use of the best available technology and best environmental practices.
