Food and Agriculture Organization, International Code of Conduct on the Distribution and Use of Pesticides

Date:11 January 1999
Description:The International Code of Conduct was developed to address a number of difficulties associated with the use of pesticides in developing countries where adequate regulatory infrastructures are frequently lacking. The Code was adopted by FAO member countries at the 23rd Session of the FAO Conference to incorporate the principle of Prior Informed Consent. It was recognized that in order to remain relevant the Code must evolve in order to reflect changing needs of countries and that there was a need to monitor progress in the observance of the Code.
