The Center has programs on reproductive health, dengue and AIDS prevention for the municipality of Santiago. Situated in the center of town, it offers programs on sexual education for school children, support for lesbians and gays in the community, free condoms, and support groups for individuals infected with HIV/AIDS. CUBA: Past History, Present Realities, Future Possibilities NAFSA Professional Development Seminars in Cuba
Havana Program October 4-13, 2002 Focus on educational opportunities in greater Havana, Co-host: Parker Emerson, Harvard University, Cost: $2,400
Oriente Program December 2-11, 2002 Explore educational opportunities outside of Havana, Co-host: Lee Zeigler, Stanford University, Cost: $2,650
Based on the very successful first trip last year, NAFSA, working with Global Exchange, is offering two, 10-day professional development seminars to Cuba for international educators interested in building and/or strengthening educational ties between their colleges and universities and Cuba.
The first trip is scheduled October 4-13, 2002 and will focus on educational opportunities within Havana. The second trip will take place December 2-11, 2002 and will explore opportunities in provincial cities across Cuba as well as Havana. Each trip is limited to 30 participants, based on application.
The Havana program itinerary is expressly designed for educators who have not yet traveled to Cuba. The Oriente Program itinerary is designed for those who may or may not have had previous experience in Cuba.
